Optometry Services

The clinic provides comprehensive vision examinations, treatment of ocular disease and injuries, and also orders and dispenses military-issue spectacles for active-duty with a current prescription. An Aerospace Optometrist is available for the special vision needs of the aviation community.

Contact Lenses

Limited contact lens services for current or prior wearers are available. If applicable, wear your current contact lenses and bring your lens information (prior prescription, packages or boxes) with your lens case for evaluation. No contact lens fittings will be performed for new wearers.

The Optometry Department may only purchase contact lenses for the following two categories of patients:

  1. Active Duty personnel enrolled in the Mission Essential Contact Lens Program, or
  2. Patients with a vision-threatening medical need such as keratoconus

Laser Vision Correction

Laser vision correction (i.e. PRK or LASIK) is available for Active Duty personnel at NMC Portsmouth. For those interested and with at least one year remaining in the Hampton Roads area, Oceana Optometry can provide screenings during routine eye exams and refer candidates to the refractive surgery clinic for a comprehensive surgery evaluation.
