Intensive Care Unit

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth guarantees quality healthcare by providing exceptional, evidence-based patient care and fostering professional development. We provide care to critically ill or injured active duty members, retirees, and eligible beneficiaries in the Hampton Roads area.

The ICU is a 19-bed unit that cares for adults (18 and up) across the life span in a multidisciplinary setting to ensure high quality care throughout the inpatient stay from admission to discharge.

Improving the quality and safety of healthcare with focus on reducing the risk of Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI), and Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP).
