NMCP CHAPLAINS PERFORM BLESSING OF THE HANDS

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — U.S. Navy Chaplains assigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth provided Blessing of the Hands this week to Nurses across the Tidewater Market as part of Nurses Week.

The 37th Annual Academic Research Competition (ARC) was held the week of May 2 with the winners of each phase of the competition announced during a ceremony, May 6. There were three phases to the competition throughout the week with a poster competition that included novel case studies, podium presentations, where researchers presented approved empirical studies. The first-place place winners in each Category 1A & 1B will attend the Navy-wide Academic Research Competition hosted by Naval Medical Center San Diego on May 20.

NMCP HELPS SHAPE THE FUTURE

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — PORTSMOUTH, Va. (April 28, 2022) –Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) staff used their expertise as care providers in a unique way on April 28. Instead of caring for the sick and wounded, they were educating and inspiring the future of our country.

Lt. Cmdr. Chad Thompson, an Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Emergency Medicine resident, was recognized by the City of Suffolk at the annual award ceremony, April 5. The Suffolk Police Department awarded Thompson the Citizen’s Award for his selfless act of heroism at a motorcycle accident on May 8, 2021.

NMCP EM RESIDENT RECEIVES SUFFOLK AWARD

NMCP’s leadership triad including Capt. Shelley Perkins, commanding officer; Capt. Joel Schofer, executive officer; Master Chief Michele Sullivan, command master chief; and other staff members, participated in a walk through of Holocaust memorabilia to include literature and poems, along with viewing a video about the Holocaust.

NMCP Anesthesiology Conducts Task Training

PORTSMOUTH, Virg. — PORTSMOUTH, Va. (April 5, 2022) –Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Anesthesia Department, in coordination with the Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Training Center (HSBTC or SIM Center), conducted high-frequency task training, April 5.

NMCP GOATS GIVE BACK
