Intensive Weight Management Program

The IWMP is designed for patients who meet the following criteria:

  •  Use the calculator below to see if you have a BMI of 30 or greater.
  •  You have already tried multiple attempts at supervised weight loss through Military or Commercial weight loss programs.
  •  You are willing and able to come to frequent follow up visits (every 1-2 weeks) and attend group classes when offered.

If this sounds like you, then contact your PCM for a referral to the Nutrition NMCP Intensive Weight management Program. You will need to have these labs have been completed within the last 12 months:

  • CBC,
  • B12,
  • Lipid Panel,
  • CMP, and
  • a Thyroid panel.
Your PCM can order these before your first appointment with us.

Patients who are NOT appropriate for the IWMP are:

  •  BMI less than 30
  •  Currently Pregnant or Breastfeeding
  •  History of an eating disorder (anorexia nervosa, bulimia, combination)
  •  Unable to commit to frequent follow up visits.
  •  Need to lose weight at a rate that is considered unsafe to meet Navy Standards in too short of a timeframe.
  •  Those who have never tried any supervised weight loss programs.

Ask your PCM for a referral for Nutrition NMCP Weight Management where you will be scheduled for an initial class. You then can see a Registered Dietitian for individual assessment.

If you are Pregnant, we have a class for Pregnant women to help with gaining the right amount of weight. Ask your OB provider for a consult to the Nutrition NMCP OB Weight Management Group.
