Simulation Center
Naval Medical Center Portsmouth’s Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Training Center provides state of the art simulation-based medical training for the United States Armed Forces, coalition forces, and local medical community. Since the Center's inception in February 2006, we have trained more than 70,000 healthcare professionals and have expanded our capabilities to over 50 different medical simulators. Training modalities include standardized patients, task trainers, high fidelity mannequins, and virtual reality trainers in our Simulation Center and tissue training in our Bioskills Center. We provide training either in our Simulation and Bioskills Center, a combined 8,000 square feet of training space, or in clinical spaces and actual operational environments where medical care is expected to occur, both ashore and afloat. We have an active research team that has generated eighteen publications and 22 regional and national presentations since 2016. We hold dual accreditations through the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and remain on the cutting edge of Medical Modeling and Simulation.
