Post Anesthesia Care Unit
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit, or PACU, at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth has 27 patient bays and plans, directs and executes nursing care supporting 13,000 patients annually.
The mission of the PACU is to provide high quality post-operative nursing care for active duty and dependents of all ages that have undergone both elective and emergency procedures.
We strive to provide our patients with optimum pain management and ensure positive outcomes for every patient.
The PACU staff is adept at caring for patients of all ages and acuities; and is experts in dealing with the many concerns that may arise during the post-operative period including, but not limited to: pain management, nausea, intravenous access, airway management, and arrhythmias.
