Preventive Medicine
The department maintains liaison with State Health Officials in support of various communicable disease control programs to include:
- Tuberculosis
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Animal bite and Rabies Prevention
- Hepatitis
- Pediatric Lead Poisoning Prevention
- Food borne Illness concern investigations
In addition, the department provides Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health support to all activities and personnel located on NAB, Little Creek. Routine services include, but are not limited to:
- Recreational and Living Spaces
- Child Development Centers and Child Development Homes
- Disease vector surveillance
- Bacteriological monitoring of potable water supply systems, ice, swimming pools, and beaches
- WBGT/Heat Stress monitoring
- Environmental Complaints (mold, water, etc.)
Education and training required to support the above programs are provided to base commands/personnel as required or requested.
