What To Know About Care Under TRICARE During A Possible Lapse In Appropriations
We understand a potential lapse in appropriations may cause concern, and we are committed to minimizing disruption to your care. As a beneficiary receiving care at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth or one of our Branch Health or TRICARE Prime clinics, below is what you can expect in the case of a government shutdown starting October 1.
-You will be able to access your TRICARE benefits and receive care at military hospitals and clinics during a lapse in appropriations.
-While no one can predict the full impact of a government lapse in appropriations, TRICARE beneficiaries using civilian health care providers should feel little or no effects at this time.
-Military pharmacies will remain open, but operations may be reduced and wait times may be longer than normal.
You will still have access to military, home delivery, and retail pharmacy services.
-If you have an appointment scheduled, please contact your
specific clinic to verify services and hours of operation during the government lapse in appropriations.
-You may continue to send secure messages to your health care team through the Patient Portal.
-If you need help deciding what type of care you need, call the Military Health System Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-TRICARE (1-800-874-2273).
