Great news regarding COVID-19 Vaccine availability at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP). Starting Friday, April 23, vaccination appointments are available to:


(16 and 17 year old beneficiaries must be accompanied by a parent).

When scheduling your initial dose appointment, please also make an appointment for your second dose for at least 21 days later.

To book an appointment please go to the Defense Health Agency Appointing Portal (DAP) NMCP specific website at https://informatics-stage.health.mil/NMCPCOVIDApp/ or use this QR code and follow the prompts to pick a day and time.

When you book your appointment, you’ll be asked to provide:

First and last name; Department of Defense ID number (found on the back of your military-issued identification card); phone number; and which dose you’ll be receiving (first or second). All doses given at NMCP are Pfizer, and we are currently only offering the second dose to those who received their first dose at NMCP.

An alternative is to make an appointment at the FEMA Community Vaccination Center located at the Military Circle Mall in Norfolk (www.norfolk.gov/covid19vaccine), open 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Also, vaccines are being offered in the community at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Hampton, all of the Tidewater-area civilian health care departments are offering appointments for the vaccine.

Please keep in mind that starting April 23, Active Duty initial and second doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine will require appointments using the Defense Health Agency Appointing Portal (DAP).

Active Duty members who received their initial dose before April 23 (which would have been scheduled via their Command Reps) should continue to work with their Command Reps to schedule their second doses. Non-Active Duty personnel (GS, contractors, retirees, etc.) who received an initial dose before April 23, please walk in for your second dose at the SAME LOCATION where you received the initial dose.

Thank you for your patience as we worked together to keep everyone safe through this process, and, ultimately, fully vaccinate all against COVID-19.

The Branch Health Clinic, Naval Air Station Oceana, parent command Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA., was established to provide mission support to the fleet and is and located in Virginia Beach, VA. just inside Gate 1 of the Air Station. The 63,997 sq. ft. building was first occupied in December 1978, housing over 180 staff members.

Coordinate with your Sponsor on when you will be checking in. Check in to Branch Health Clinic Oceana's Admin department, Monday - Friday 0800-1500. For after hours, weekends, and holidays, check in with the Officer of the Day, call (757) 544-4420 for assistance. Your sponsor is an integral part of your check-in process, if you have not been assigned a sponsor, please contact the Sponsor Coordinator at usn.hampton-roads.navhospporsva.list.BHCOceana-Sponsor@mail.mil or the Officer of the Day at (757)544-4420.
