Access Procedures

Personnel requiring access to NSN or NSA Hampton Roads tenant installations who do not qualify for a DOD ID/PIV/CAC must request installation access. An authorized sponsor must submit an access request on the individual’s behalf. This request will include a completed and signed SECNAV 5512/1 and will be sent via encrypted email to the Regional Clearance Center; The individual is required to present a valid, authorized photo ID and complete a SECNAV 5512/1 to meet identity criteria. Discovery of any of the following will result in a denial of installation access privileges:

  • A felony conviction within the past 10 years
  • A felony arrest within 10 years that has not yet been adjudicated
  • Conviction of terrorism
  • Placement on the Terrorist Watch List
  • A felony conviction of any sexual offense regardless of date
  • Registration with the National Sex Offender Registry
  • Debarment from any other DON installation
Trusted Traveler Program: DOD ID/PIV/CAC/US ID holders are authorized escorts for the purposes of the trusted traveler program.
Visitation of Patients: Visitors arrive at gate. Patient is verified via patient list. Visitors are screened via OPENFOX.
  • If favorable outcome:
    • Visitors are issued a pass for a period of time
  • If unfavorable outcome:
    • Visitors are denied access

Vehicle Requirements

All vehicles entering the installation shall have current registration and proof of insurance. All vehicles are subject to inspection. Dash cameras must be removed or covered when on the installation.


Personnel will not be granted access to installation if they bring weapons, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia. Marijuana, CBD products, or any items/products associated with marijuana are not authorized on Federal Property.


Parking for staff members is concentrated in three major areas. Most staff members are expected to park in the parking garage. The ground, first, and second levels of the garage are reserved for patients and visitors only. Staff vehicles found in patient areas will be booted or towed. Limited staff parking is also available next to the pool and the gym.
