Pneumococcal Immunizations
The CDC has recently updated its recommendations for pneumococcal vaccination, and it's important to know what that means for you and your loved ones. Previously, the guidelines recommended pneumococcal vaccination for all adults aged 65 and older to protect against serious infections like pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections. Now, the recommendation has been lowered to 50. This means that adults aged 50 and older should now talk to their doctor about receiving the pneumococcal vaccine. This change reflects growing evidence that the vaccine can offer significant protection to a broader age group, helping to keep more people healthy and out of the hospital.
