Pediatric General & Thoracic Surgery

The Pediatric Surgery Division provides comprehensive evaluation, pre-operative preparation, operative treatment, and postoperative care for the full spectrum of routine elective as well as urgent or emergent pediatric surgical problems. We are experienced in the treatment of congenital and acquired anomalies of the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal wall and groin hernias, disorders of the male and female genitourinary tract, chest wall deformities, pulmonary and mediastinal lesions, anomalies of the head and neck, cutaneous and soft tissue lesions, breast disorders, endocrine disorders, pediatric solid tumors, and trauma. We also provide prenatal consultation. (View a comprehensive list of conditions treated.)

We are staffed by two board certified pediatric surgeons, a pediatric registered nurse, a medical assistant, and several rotating general surgery resident physicians. We perform traditional open surgical procedures, advanced laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and robotic surgery. We are supported by a dedicated operating room team and board certified pediatric anesthesiologists. We work closely with the referring pediatrician or family practitioner, additional pediatric subspecialists, and other medical professionals to develop a treatment plan that best addresses your child’s needs and the needs of your entire family.

Our expertise and our passion is the surgical care of children. Children are not just small adults. They are unique patients with unique needs. We understand that visiting the doctor and planning for your child’s surgery can be a frightening experience. We have facilities and equipment that are designed specifically for children. We speak with, examine, and treat children in ways that encourages them to relax and cooperate, yet provides them with an appropriate degree of control over their bodies and their medical care.

We do our best to create an accessible and nonthreatening environment in which your child can be evaluated and treated. Our goal is for your child to complete his or her recovery, happy and comfortable.
