Influenza

The seasonal influenza vaccine will be available for patients ages 6 months old and up starting Oct. 15 at the following locations and times.

Active Duty Unit SHOTEXes

Active Duty Unit SHOTEXes will be available from 20 October - 15 December 2023 at the following locations: NMCP, BHC Boone, BHC Norfolk, BHC Oceana or BHC Dam Neck.
*Onsite SHOTEXes at the requesting unit will be on a case-by-case basis.

Flu vaccination is covered by TRICARE with no cost-shares or copayments if it’s administered by a pharmacist at a participating network pharmacy or by a TRICARE-authorized provider at a participating network onsite clinic.


COVID Booster

The updated COVID-19 booster shots are also available but only at NMCP, BHC Norfolk, BHC Oceana and BHC Boone.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Immunizations

The RSV vaccine is now available at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Immunizations Department for patients 60 years and older. RSV vaccines are available on a walk-in basis.

The vaccine will be available at all clinics except BHC Northwest. 

Beneficiaries can also receive the vaccine out in the network and it will be covered under TRICARE.  TRICARE’s covered vaccines are found here:  https://militaryrx.express-scripts.com/vaccine/resource-center

RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious. Infants and older adults are more likely to develop severe RSV and need hospitalization. Vaccines are available to protect older adults from severe RSV.

No TST (PPD) tests are administered on Thursday due to the inability to read the results over the weekend.
