Portsmouth, VA — Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Training Center (HSBTC or SIM Center) held a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, including Computer Science (STEM/CS) event for Portsmouth School System (PSS) high school students, Dec. 9.

NMCP FIRST NAVY MTF AWARDED PATHWAY TO EXCELLENCE

Portsmouth, VA — Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) is the first Navy military treatment facility (MTF) to be awarded the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence designation, Dec. 10.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth’s (NMCP) Mammography clinic received reaccreditation, Nov. 17. The team leading the way to reaccreditation were, from left to right, Mammography Technologists: Schanell Teartt, Sandy Donofrio, Alicia Headley, Roslyn Young-Lead, Dinah Catlet; Cmdr. Jessica Miller, former Lead Interpreting Physician Mammography Department; and Shaunita Ratcliff-Durham, Supervisory Nurse Breast Healthcare. The Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requires all U.S. mammography facilities to be accredited. The American College of Radiology Mammography Accreditation Program provides peer review, constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, image quality, and radiation dose.

NMCP Mammography Clinic Earns Reaccreditation

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — PORTSMOUTH, Va. (December 2, 2021) – Naval Medical Center Portsmouth’s (NMCP) Mammography clinic received reaccreditation, Nov. 17.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth’s (NMCP) leadership and members of the Command Executive Board devoted time to NMCP’s galley serving lines for a holiday meal, Dec. 8. Capt. Shelley Perkins, NMCP's commanding officer, serves dessert as part of the NMCP holiday meal served to nearly 240 staff and patients. The menu included shrimp cocktail, New England clam chowder, roast turkey, ribeye, and ham, among other holiday classics like mashed potatoes, asparagus, glazed carrots and macaroni & cheese, with a dessert selection of assorted pies and cookies.

Among the many programs offered by NMCP's SIM center, one stands out as a bridge for those who are completing their internship year and preparing to be general medical officers in the fleet. NMCP’S SIM CENTER REACCREDITED AND RECOGNIZED

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — PORTSMOUTH, Va. (Dec. 6, 2021) – Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Training Center (HSBTC) was recently granted reaccreditation in the areas of core and research by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), and received a Defense Health Agency (DHA) award for combat trauma care.

Portsmouth, VA — PORTSMOUTH, Va. (Nov. 17, 2021) – Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) welcomed Operation PEACE (Peer Empowerment and Community Engagement), headed by Miss District of Columbia, Ensign Andolyn Medina, Nov. 17.

Portsmouth, VA — PORTSMOUTH, Va. (November 10, 2021) – Following approval from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) began providing the COVID-19 pediatric vaccination to children between the ages of five and eleven, Nov. 8.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) underwent the rigorous triennial onsite survey from The Joint Commission (TJC) from Aug. 10 to Aug. 13, which resulted in reaccreditation until 2024.
