Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Portsmouth Celebrated the 78th Birthday of the Navy Medical Service Corps with a cake cutting ceremony in the foyer of historic building 1 at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. The Medical Service Corps is the most diverse corps within Navy Medicine, encompassing 31 specialties and over 3,000 active and reserve officers.

NMRTC Portsmouth/NMCP Nurse Residency Program Accreditation

The Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Portsmouth/Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Nurse Residency Program under the leadership of CAPT Meredith Croft, Chief Nursing Officer/Director of Nursing Services, has officially earned reaccreditation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The accreditation has been granted for four years, from May 19, 2025 to July 31, 2029.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Pastoral Care Staff Sponsor an Angel Tree

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) Pastoral Care Staff spent the last few months working with the medical center’s staff to sponsor a Holiday Angel Tree. The toys for 16-year-olds and younger were collected and displayed in the command’s Chapel of Hope, and they will be distributed prior to Christmas.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Receives National Recognition for Meritorious Outcomes From The American College Of Surgeons

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (Nov. 21, 2024) The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) has recognized Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) as one of 77 ACS NSQIP participating hospitals that have achieved meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care in 2023. As a participant in ACS NSQIP, NMCP is required to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and collect data that assesses patient safety and can be used to direct improvement in the quality of surgical care.

Those selected include Category I Administrative, Marc Davis, Legal, Command Suite; Category I Clinical, Karen Jones, Orthopedic Surgery, DSS; Category II Administrative, Sean Person, Patient Administration, DFA; and Category II Clinical, Cimone John, Gynecology Services & Obstetrics, DSS.
